Environment, mindset, which foods we decide to consume, and the sourcing of food have a tremendous impact on our overall health. Socioeconomic factors can act as barriers to health, but fortunately, there are opportunities to claim health through the daily habits that we can control that can radically transform our health. Often, such opportunities are overlooked in day-to-day life.

Environment

Environmental factors play a huge role in achieving health. Local air and water quality can impact the nervous and respiratory systems. Harmful levels of lead, fluoride, and arsenic are commonly found in local water systems. Despite the challenge environmental factors propose, understanding this issue allows us to make a conscious effort to source or filter water accordingly, which inevitably impacts our health.

Mindset

Achieving and maintaining health can get overwhelming, fortunately, mindset can re-frame thoughts and align us towards health-promoting behavioral patterns that eventually become staples to our lifestyle. Consistently adopting these behavioral patterns or small habits over a long period can have a snowball effect that renders good health. Wherever you are in your health journey, you are encouraged to claim health through consistent habits or commitments that help you claim health daily!

Sourcing Food

Studies have linked pesticides to cognitive degeneration, however, the sourcing and sanitation of food can significantly reduce the presence of pesticides. An insecticide called organophosphate has been shown to interfere with chemical neurotransmitters and induce neurodegenerative diseases. 

Possible solutions,

  • shop organic

  • avoid dirty dozen and gravitate to clean 15 produce

  • grow your own food

  • wash produce thoroughly using a non-toxic solution

Hyper-nourishment

Nourishing the body with as many wholefood plant-based fruits and veggies crowds out less space for processed foods that can be detrimental to health. Whole plant-based foods are rich in fiber, minerals, vitamins, and essential amino acids. Many processed foods are laced with food colorants, preservatives, potassium sulfates, carcinogenic compounds, and other caustic substances that negatively interfere with health.

Through adding plant-based foods that hyper-nourish the body, the (RDV) for essential micro and macro-nutrients can be met and cravings for junk food are more likely to subside as whole plant-based foods are rich in fiber and therefore, heighten satiety. As a result, health goals pertaining to nourishment and physical composition become easier to maintain long-term.

Testimony

Faith has become central to my life as I continue to maintain health. Ultimately, it became evident that I needed not only to heal physically, but also spiritually. It became apparent that much of the lifestyle habits that caused health issues derived from wounds that were unhealed spiritually. Food had become a coping mechanism and my relationship with food had to evolve to support my health.

Shifting to Plant-Based Living

Similar to many, I was raised on the Standard American Diet and ultimately in my early 20’s it became apparent that my digestive health was far from optimal. After discovering I was in need of physical healing, it also became clear the root cause of compromised health stems from lifestyle habits that impact the mind, body, and spirit. This space is dedicated towards sharing health content consisting of recipes, lifestyles habits, and other resources that helped me reclaim my health. I am a plant-based vegan and content is predominantly centered around vegan plant-based recipes. However, this page welcomes audiences from all walks of life who strive towards optimizing health via. lifestyle intervention. Thank you for joining this journey with me!
